The inside of the robot is an iron frame that is
recycle ready and will be reprocessed afterwards in accordance with Guinness
World Records rule number six: ‘The materials used must be recyclable but
can be recycled after the sculpture is disassembled’

The materials had been accepted but to break the
record set by Rafael Melida and La Facultad de Ciencias del Trabajo de la
Universidad de Huelva in Spain in 2010 the sculpture had to be big enough. To
be precise the sum of the height, length and width of Tangobô had to surpass
24.30 metres (79 ft 8 in).
First a group of trained specialists climbed to the
shoulders to measure the shoulder width, 8.32 metres. Next the same team of
acrobatic assessors scaled up to the robot’s head and passed the measuring tape
to the floor to obtain the height, a whopping 15.20 metres. Finally they needed
the length from toe to heel to be anything longer than 78cm to set the record.
No problem for Tangobô, with a foot length of 4.25 metres his overall
measurement was 27.77 metres a Guinness World Records record!

It was a great day for the thousands of children who
make up Esquadrão Verde Tang and all the fans who had gathered in Parque do
Carmo for the official certification and to enjoy the other great treats on
offer (free Tang, the chance to build your very own mini-Tangobô and a host of
top music artists) on a beautiful sunny Saturday afternoon. Even Tangobô was
excited and moved his arms and head in a celebratory dance.
What next for Tangobô who took over two months to
create and three days to be assembled? He has to be taken apart but his legacy
will live on forever in Parque do Carmo as he becomes picnic benches, seats and
bicycle stands in the São Paulo park.

The New record will be a life size Blue Whale - the largest mammal on earth! It will be constructed in one of four cities in Latin America currently being reviewed by our team. Those cities and countries are San Jose, Costa Rica - Panama City, Panama - Cartagena, Columbia - Rio de Janeiro, Brasil.
We hope to gain two world records with this new effort, one for the largest sculpture ever made from recycled materials and another for the largest sculpture entirely made from discarded plastic bottles. We also hope to raise social consciousnesses to the plight of our plastic filled oceans and the marine life that it adversely effects.

This construction will be a honeycomb type of fabrication (a closely guarded secret for now) adding both beauty and fluid lines as well as making it very strong and durable This added strength to the sculpture will allow it to be displayed for years after it's unveiling until the time comes for it to be recycled. With the addition of LED internal solar powered lights that will flick on and off sending beams of colored lights from the Earth Whales body and the design input from international artists and sculptors, the Earth whale will be recognized as a true work of art as well.
